Update on Sophie
Got a call from A&M. Sophie ate a spoon full of food. Vet thinks if she continue to eat on her own for next day or two she will make it. She is a fighter. I know she will.

Update on Sophie

Sophie Update
To ease her distress Sophie has been moved into oxygen chamber. She is on pain meds and, IV and drip indulin plus several other medications. Her Keetones are slightly down. It takes a while for liver enzymes to come down so we will know in 3-4 days about that. She is still not out of danger. Its been 4 days.
Goal is to make her eat on her own so her glucose can be controlled. Her pancrease is still very swollen and hurting. Keeping our paws crossed. Saving Sophie
Pure Mutts Animal Sanctuary is founded to help old, sick, injured and special need animals.
We have deaf, blind, 3 legged, old artheritic, young injured and everything in between at the sanctuary. One of our resident 12 yr old blind and diabetic Min Pin is in trouble. We need your help to save her life. Sophie is in emergency care at A&M. Her liver is failing, her gall bladder may be clogged, her pancreas is not functioning, and several other complications have made our little girl very very sick. It all started on Saturday and went downhill from there. But we are not ready to give up. We had snatched her from jaws of death before and we are ready to do it again. She was rescued by us around couple of years ago when we got an email from someone whose colleague was going to put her dog down because dog was diabetic and turned blind. With few hours to spare we managed to whisk her away to our sanctuary. She arrived full of spirit. This little girl loves life and doesnâ??t let blindness slow her down. Every morning Ms Sophie goes around all over the sanctuary and inspect every corner. When she is done you can hear her little claws ticking on wooden stairs as she races upstairs for her breakfast. During the day she follows rest of the pack and even tries to chase squirrels without even seeing them. She loves sun bathing, rolling in grass and getting pampered. She doesnâ??t even create a fuss when we give her the insulin shot twice a day. She is fighting hard and we are fighting hard for her. Our vet bill is expected to be some where around $5000-$6200. We need help raising the money to pay the bills. As you know we will beg, borrow or steal for our sanctuary residents. We are begging for your help and we are trying to borrow from the bank. But our $10,000 credit line that has saved us several times before has been reduced to $3000 against our sanctuary bank account. Down turn in economy is impacting everyone including animals. We are getting 5-6 calls everyday from people trying to give up their pets while calls for adoptions are coming in once in a while. Due to several emergencies and low adoptions and high number of intake our funds have dwindled. Please help us carry on with our mission of saving lives of these woenderful creatures. Sophie, I and all the residents at the sanctuary appreciate it. Please help with what you can and pass it on to your animal lover friends who may be able to help. |
